Riverside Regional Medical Center Expansion Project Wins ACEC VA Honor Award

Congratulations to the Riverside Regional Medical Center expansion team! The project, which includes CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) labs, the Advanced Wound Care Center (AWCC), and the Dr. Brandon D. Rogers Simulation Lab (Sim Lab), is the recipient of an ACEC Virginia Engineering Excellence Honor Award.

The AWCC features state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers that bring lifesaving treatment to burn victims and patients with other chronic wounds by providing treatment options for negative pressure, casting, tissue substitutes, compressions, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The Sim Lab enables medical professionals to practice high-risk procedures in simulated situations and gain knowledge and skills required for emergencies. The lab uses interactive mannequins that simulate lifelike sounds, utter basic works, and sweat, bleed, and convulse to support student learning.

AKF provided MEP/FP engineering design and construction administration services for the expansion projects. We are proud to have supported these vital healthcare projects that contribute to the safety, health, and overall betterment of the community.
